Water
One gallon per person per day. That's the number. Stored water comes first, because it's the cheapest and the surest: a bladder that folds flat in a closet and fills from the tap before the storm hits. Filters are the second layer, for when stored water is gone. Every filter here is a hollow-fiber filter rated by its manufacturer for bacteria and protozoa. None are independently NSF/ANSI certified, and each page says so. None remove viruses or chemicals. Boiling is still the backup. Fill the bladder before you need it.
