This is the patrol bag from the US military Modular Sleep System (MSS) — the lighter of the system's two sleeping bags, listed under NSN 8465-01-398-0685. On its own it covers milder nights; nested inside the MSS intermediate bag, it becomes part of a genuine cold-weather sleep system.

• Genuine US military designation: NSN 8465-01-398-0685, regular size
• The patrol bag is the lighter-weight component of the two-bag MSS, intended for milder temperatures
• Designed to nest inside the MSS intermediate (cold weather) bag when temperatures drop
• OD green, as issued to US forces
