Personal Hollow-Fiber Water Filter

Storing water and making water are two different jobs. This filter is the second one.

It's a hollow-fiber personal purifier: it pulls water from a bucket, a creek, a rain barrel, or the storage bladder in your closet, and stops the bacteria and protozoa behind most waterborne illness, including Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

Straight talk about what it doesn't do

• Viruses pass through hollow fiber. If the water could have sewage in it, and after a flood most of it does, filter it and then boil or bleach it. That's the CDC's guidance too.
• It doesn't remove fuel, chemicals, or salt. If the water smells like gasoline or has a sheen on top, find different water.
• It's manufacturer-rated, not independently certified. I'd rather tell you that than let a box imply otherwise.
